Basic Pistol Safety - VA CHP

Meets Virginia requirements for Concealed Handgun Permit application- Basic Safety and Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting. * no prerequisite

This course is designed for the new firearms enthusiast seeking further on range supervised practice upon completion of Basic Pistol Safety. Student must demonstrate the NRA Safe Firearms Handling Skills. Entry level range drills as well as intro to proper defensive mindset.

Intro to Defensive Pistol

Course goal is to develop student’s knowledge and skills in the areas of shooting speed and accuracy, holster draw technique, speed and tactical reloads, clearing malfunctions and difference between cover and concealment.

NRA Refuse To Be A Victim

The single most important step toward ensuring your own safety is having a personal safety strategy in place before you need it. NRA’s Refuse to Be a Victim program teaches the tips and techniques you need to be alerted to dangerous situations and to avoid becoming a victim. Seminars are held across the nation and are open to men and women of all ages. Today, hundreds of federal, state, and local law enforcement officials from across the nation utilize this popular program in their crime prevention and community policing initiatives. Corporations, educational institutions and community centers have also adopted the program. More than 100,000 people have benefited from these seminars.

NRA Personal Protection In The Home

This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and provides information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting

Gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with and NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.

NRA FIRST Steps Shotgun

NRA FIRST Steps Shotgun course is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific shotgun model. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific model shotgun at a moving target. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the shotgun model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the shotgun; and continued opportunities for skills development. Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet and FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.

NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Course

Short‎ Description: This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target. More Details: This course includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Shotgun Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.

NRA FIRST Steps Rifle Orientation

NRA FIRST Steps Rifle is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific rifle action type for classes of four or fewer students. This course is at least 3 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific rifle action type. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the rifle model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the rifle; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet and FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.

NRA Basic Rifle Shooting

This course is 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.

NRA CCW

The NRA CCW Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This instructor-led only course gives you direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end and may be conducted in a classroom and on a shooting range with an Instructor.
